Today’s topic is a quickie but a biggie.

Answer this – what makes you happy?

You should be able to answer this within a split second. You should be able to come up with *multiple* answers within a few seconds.

In fact, you should be able to keep listing off things in your head even while you’re reading these words.

If not, we need to fix that!

Try to think of whatever has made you happy in the past. Stuff you did, stuff you saw…. Ideas yet?

Nothing huge or drastic, I’m talking about the small pleasures in life. Quickies – like walks, talks, a song.

Find something that makes you happy, and do it. Do it now!!

Do something that makes you happy every day.

Humans in general don’t pay enough attention to ourselves.

Go and make sure to give yourself a quickie every day. Your soul will thank you!

So next steps, remember to:

do more of what makes you happy

  1. I love this! Quickies that make me happy are dogs, going for a walk or run outside, the smell (and taste) of a great cup of coffee, my wife’s smile, the feel of the first hint of the brisk fall air, really listening to a good friend, going to the park.

Thanks for your commitment to simplicity and the reminder to notice the things that make me happy! πŸ™‚

  2. Great idea Wendy! The things that make me happy are spending time with people I love, creating, listening to music, hanging out with my cat and reading about interesting new ideas – all things I can definitely accomplish every single day πŸ™‚

  3. Love this, Wendy! The first things that came to mind for me are music/dancing, writing, reading, getting outside, hanging out with my husband and/or friends, a long walk, and yoga.

  4. Wendy, reading blog posts like this one makes me happy. πŸ™‚ Because I can really feel your enthusiasm coming through! Thank you. To answer your wonderful question, here are some more things that make me happy: falling asleep next to my husband after a long productive day, seeing my parents laughing and happy, hanging out with my two cats, seeing new places, meeting new people, cooking a hearty vegan meal for my family. You’re right! There are so many! Can’t even name them all in one place.

  5. Wendy, a very biggie question indeed! I am happy when I am cycling, hanging out with my best friend and wife, watching a good zombie movie (in a nice theater!), sitting around on a lazy Sunday with my family and cats, hearing my cats purring, and also when I am in the streets making photographs. There are many more… oh yes, my wife and I love to travel by car on road trips.

  6. Yay for this!
What a great exercise, Wendy. I’m happy when I accomplish my daily goals, step into fresh air, make someone smile, hear live music, eat/create a delicious meal, feel forward momentum in my life, improve the wellbeing of others, laughter that rattles my ribcage.
